Stained Glass Marketing

People are asking how to market their stained glass products. There are many people who think about earning their leaving by making stained glass items and who would like to learn how to make money creating stained glass. There is no magic way to market your stained glass products but here are a few advices regarding stained glass marketing.

Go the craft fairs

Some people believe that craft fairs are the best solution for stained glass marketing. There are people claiming they made more than $20,000 in only 2 days by selling stained glass products at the craft fairs. So, I decided to go to the fair to sell my products.

In 2006 I went to a craft fair in Utah, hoping I will make a lot of money. Well, things were not as I thought would be. I actually didn’t make enough to cover the fees I paid. What was the problem?

To find the answer to this question I have to look at some factors.

1. The reason why I failed is that I didn’t sell enough items and that is because I didn’t have enough gift glass items to sell. Since you can’t sell more than you actually have the reason why I failed is obvious.

2. I spread cards and I met a lot of people during the fair. I showed them my stained glass designs and I made a good impression. In the following months I picked a few new customers and got to make a lot of stained glass projects all thanks to my presence to the craft fair.

So, even if at the beginning I thought that my presence to the fair was a total disaster, I met a lot of people who needed stained glass products and who eventually become my clients. In the future I’ll make sure to take enough glass gift items to earn enough money but I will also continue spreading cards to pick more and more new clients.

Getting Custom Work

When one of my neighbors decided to become a stained glass artist, someone advised him to ask people who live in a rich neighborhood if they want stained glass, going door to door. He followed this advice and eventually found a family that needed stained glass. So he got a commercial job that brought him a lot of exposure.

The conclusion is that even simple relationships can lead to stained glass projects. You must ask people if they need stained glass projects and follow those who seem interested. A simple phone call every month often pays off.

Stained glass field offers enough work for everyone who is interested. There is not a real competition in the field, but there are a lot of people who need stained glass, So, you only have to find them.
